Snake in The Bed

This story was told to me a few years ago and I’ve never forgotten about it.

It’s about a lady who had a pet snake. (crazy. I know!) She gave this snake free reign in her bed-room and one day noticed that the snake began to sleep in her bed. (gives me the willies!) A few days later she noticed the snake sleeping near her head and then almost starting to snuggle with her. The snake stopped eating and didn’t seem like himself. That night the snake stretched all the way out and slept along her body. She felt bad for the snake and began to stroke and pet him as they slept. (yuck!)

The next day she took the snake to the vet and explained that she was afraid he was sick and had stopped eating. The vet asked her if his habits had changed at all lately, and she told him that the snake had begun stretching out and sleeping next to her and that she thought that was sweet. (this lady needs a dog!)

The vet then told the lady he was going to have to kill her snake.

“WHAT???” Said the lady? “WHY?” The vet told her the snake was starving itself in preparation to eat her. Yep… that’s right…. EAT HER!

It was stretching alongside her to size her up and making room for when he would finally kill her and then swallow her up. CRAZY! (This is just one of the reasons I don’t have a pet snake!)

This story is awesome because this is exactly what sin does! It comes along side and we stroke it, care for it, accommodate it, and pretty soon it is in the perfect position that it swallows us up! Be vigilant and recognize sin. Don’t let it in your bed! Don’t snuggle with it!
